A MARRIED Clevedon community police sergeant has resigned amid sexual allegations of misconduct.Sgt Pete Abrams, has stepped down from his role as sergeant in the town after 15 years with the force. A police spokesman refused to confirm the allegations were of a sexual nature but have said they involve two women.Assistant chief constable Jackie Roberts, of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said: "We can confirm that a 45-year-old police officer has resigned following allegations of misconduct."The constabulary has completed a thorough investigation into the allegations and found no evidence of any criminal acts having been committed. However, due to the nature of the allegations, the officer tendered his resignation, which the constabulary has accepted."It was felt that, taking into consideration all the circumstances, this was the most appropriate resolution, and in the best interests of all parties concerned."We expect the highest standards from all our staff and on those occasions where they fall short of those requirements we are duty-bound to investigate.
