A MUCH respected community member who served the village of Banwell for more than 40 years died this week.Geoff Hebden, aged 59, was elected to Banwell Parish Council in 1982 and earned a reputation for clear thinking and fairness during his 12 years in office.Mr Hebden was also a member of the Parochial Church Council as well as a governor of Banwell Primary School where he later became chairman.A prolific member of the bell-ringers' circle, Mr Hebden was tower captain at Banwell for 40 years and the ringing master in Axbridge in the 1970s.The former engineer married Shi at Banwell church in 1975 and they had two children, Lorna and Alex.The funeral will be held at St Andrew's Church, Banwell at 11am on Wednesday, followed by a service at Weston Crematorium at 1pm.
