FAMILIES can win prizes while working together and enjoying food in a new competition for the Weston super Food Festival.
The Mercury-supported event, taking place on September 21 and 22, gives people all over Weston the chance to join in the fun with new competitions launching over the next few weeks.
This week is the launch of Come Dine At Our House, giving families the chance to work together to design their own healthy menu.
Children can work with their parents to create a healthy and affordable two course menu with either the starter and main course or main course and dessert.
It is a chance to get creative with seasonal ingredients and win a great prize to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Festival organiser Sally Packer said: “With rising levels of obesity, scares about food safety, concerns about the high fat, sugar and salt content of many ready meals, and families struggling to cope with rising food prices its never been a better time to get the whole family cooking and thinking about the food they eat, where it comes from and how it can effect their health.
“Serious stuff – but everyone loves food and Come Dine At Our House is a fun way to get mums, dad, kids and grandparents back into the kitchen and involved in creating delicious and nutritious menus.”
To get involved, create a menu complete with the recipes and take a photograph of your tasty creations.
When you have finished, write your name, address, contact telephone number and email address clearly on the back of the entry and deliver or post to Weston super Food Festival, 33 Beechmount Drive, Weston-super-Mare, BS24 9EY.
Alternatively, you can email your menu to sally@westonsuperfood festival.co.uk
The closing date is September 1.
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts, winners announced in the Mercury and prizes awarded at the festival.
