A COMPETITION group raised over £1,000 with its first ever charity fundraiser.

Compers Mentis, a group of competition-entering enthusiasts, held a raffle, quiz and team games, raising £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Weston Hospicecare.

The group of competition-entering enthusiasts had 75 people turn up for the event.

Karen Taylor, the group’s founder, said: “It was a bit hot, but everybody really enjoyed themselves.

“It took a lot of work to organise it but it was worth it for the money we raised.

“We are really pleased to give £600 to each of these charities.”

She thanked Warburtons, Butcombe Brewery, Yeo Valley and Loquax for their raffle donations.
