MUSIC lovers and supporters of Weston Hospicecare turned out to enjoy a charity concert at a church in Weston.

The Joyful Spirit Gospel Choir played a variety of music to a busy audience at Christ Church in Montpelier last month. Classic tunes such as Amazing Grace were perfomed on the night and cakes and cups of tea were also served up in the interval.

The concert was the idea of Joyful Spirit member Chris Brown. His daughter, Caroline Harding, will be running the Virgin London Marathon for Weston Hospicecare on April 26. All funds raised from the evening went towards helping Caroline reach her marathon fundraising target of £8,000.

Chris said: “We had a great concert on March 14. The singing was terrific and by the end of the evening we made £300, thanks to the generosity of the audience and choir who donated to Caroline’s Weston Hospicecare fundraising.

“Thanks must go to the choir members who contributed the cakes, which were delicious and helped make the evening a success.”

The Joyful Spirit concert is one of many Hospicecare events which Caroline has been involved in. She recently added more than £6,000 to her total by hosting a charity night, complete with luxury raffle prizes, in Wrington.
