A village weight-loss group has donated thousands of pounds worth of clothes to a charity this week.

The Congresbury Slimming World group took part in The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw this week to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The group collected nearly 100 bags of clothes which no longer fit, valued at £25 each – meaning the group raised nearly £2,500.

Group leader Nicola Cox said she was ‘proud’ of her members.

She added: “The members never fail to amaze me with their weight loss results week after week and it has been great to see so many bags of clothes donated.

“This year’s event has been a fantastic success. Our group is always buzzing and when we collected the bags up and saw what a phenomenal amount there was altogether, we realised what a difference we could make, the atmosphere was just electric.”
