TIGHTER rules on parking restrictions or the potential for a park and ride is what residents have suggested to solve Weston's parking problems.
Graham Jennings started a thread on Streetlife when he received a flyer from North Somerset Council surrounding reviews of yellow lines and parking restrictions, he said: “I do not see the point in reviewing the situation when yellow lines and parking restrictions are seldom enforced.”
He suggested the introduction of a park and ride scheme for ‘day trippers’ as well as people who work but don’t live in Weston.
He said: “It would be very beneficial when there are big events on the beach as the traffic congestion would be vastly reduced.”
Ally I also felt a park and ride system would be beneficial and said: “Upping the cost of parking, providing there is a decent discount for locals, is also a very good idea.
“People may try it once and then use the Park and Ride because it will be much cheaper.”
Graham suggested land near the helicopter ground could be used for the site, but William S disagreed, he said: “The Helicopter Museum is almost hallowed ground and must remain so.”
