Sixteen houses could be planned for a North Somerset village.

Claremont Somerset Ltd has asked North Somerset Council for outline planning permission to build 16 houses to the land off Purn Way, in Bleadon.

This is the second housing application for the village in the past month, following the outline application to build 70 homes off Bridgwater Road.

The development would include road access and hopes to help meet the housing demand laid out in the council’s Core Strategy.

The application has already received a number of comments from residents living in the area.

Ian Dance, from Bleadon, said: “This proposed development would cause flooding in Purn Way, which has drainage problems during heavy periods of rain.

“The increased volume of traffic would be far in excess of what Purn Way and Chestnut Lane could cope with.”
