Could new homes in Yatton harm area’s trees?

A North Somerset Council department has said a proposed development of 83 homes in Yatton should not be built, as it could pose significant problems for the area’s trees.
The council’s natural environment team said the proposal, which has been put forward for a site in Moor Road by Persimmon Homes, would have an ‘adverse’ effect on trees and biodiversity due to problems with drainage and potential tree growth.
The department also claimed the removal of six old apple trees as part of the development would damage the area’s ecology, while the locations of proposed new trees would mean they could interfere with people’s homes and gardens once they reach full size.
