A WESTON mother says she is disgusted that North Somerset Council sent her a letter complaining about a nuisance dog when she does not even have a pet.Gay Smit received the letter from the local authority's environmental protection officer Bob Davis who said someone had complained about a dog's barking.In the letter Mr Davis said that if the department continues to get complaints it would 'have no alternative but to make a detailed investigation of the matter which could result in the council taking formal action.Mrs Smit, who lives with her husband Marthinus and their two children, said: "It's the first I've even heard of problems with a dog barking. "I think it's disgusting of the council to send the letter as I don't even have a dog."A North Somerset Council spokesman said: "When we receive a complaint we are duty bound to inform those involved. The family have contacted us to say they don't have a dog and we have apologised. We will go back to the complainant and see where we go from there.
