NORTH Somerset Council is asking residents and business owners to complete surveys about broadband services.

The council wants to identify the areas most in need of superfast broadband development and is appealing to as many people as possible to fill out the surveys on its website.

Speeds of at least 20Mpbs and as high as 50Mpbs will be made accessible to 22,500 homes and 1,000 business by 2015.

North Somerset is part of the joint scheme with Somerset County Council, Devon County Council, Torbay Council and Plymouth City Council.

North Somerset will put £250,000 toward the scheme while Somerset and Devon County Councils will put in £10million each.

David Turner, Director of Development and Environment, said: “The Devon and Somerset bid is by far the most significant and ambitious programme to be supported by government.”

The survey is open until next Monday (October 31).

If you are a resident, go to www.n-somerset.gov.uk/BBRes/ to complete the survey.

If you are a business owner, go to http://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/BBBiz/

The surveys are also available in paper format or you can complete them calling the Economic Development team on 01934 426 266 or email business@n-somerset.gov.uk
