Council defends tourism record

COUNCILLOR Felicity Baker has defended North Somerset Council's tourism record following criticism last week that the authority does not do enough to attract visitors.
Pier owner Kerry Michael called on the council to improve what he called a ‘lack of investment’ in promoting the area.
But Cllr Baker hit back at Tuesday’s full council meeting saying she had not received any other complaints and regularly received letters thanking the council for its efforts.
She said: “You only have to look at the amount of investment in Weston and the surrounding areas to see it is utter nonsense.”
