OFFICERS AXED: Somerset County Council is to axe three senior directors in an attempt to help slash £500,000 from its budget.

Two corporate directors and a service director will leave by April.

Deputy chief executive Miriam Maddison, corporate director for community Louise Goll, and corporate director for children and young people’s services, Matt Jones, will leave before the new financial year.

Chief executive Sheila Wheeler said: “I would like to put on record my thanks for their tremendous hard work and dedication on behalf of residents and staff during the most difficult of financial times.”
