COUNCIL officials have been ordered by the Environment Agency (EA) to clean up Weston's Tropicana before the end of the week.

The order came after the campaigning group Trop (WSM) Ltd complained about the rubble and waste left inside the former pool, which has been left derelict since 2000.

Ruins have been left inside the building after the seafront redevelopment and the group said this cannot be reused as it has been contaminated by tar and oil.

An investigation followed by the EA, which found some mixed waste on the site.

The body has now ordered the council to remove the waste from the site by the end of this week.
