Weston Town Council has shown its support for the town’s third Pride festival, which is set to take place next weekend.

The council is one of the sponsors of the event and is keen for it to be a ‘celebration’.

Town clerk, Malcolm Nicholson, said: “The town council recognises LGTB people have suffered discrimination in the past and is keen to promote harmony between all communities in Weston.

“We are pleased to support Weston Pride which is a great way to bring everyone together and celebrate diversity in a fun event taking place in the heart of our town.”

A host of acts are set to perform at the event, in Grove Park, which will run from noon to 8pm. A parade will begin at 11am at Knightstone Island.
