Thousands of council staff in North Somerset plan to strike over a dispute about pensions.Up to 2,500 UNISON members will stage a one-day walk-out on March 28 as part of a nationwide battle to fight what they say are 'unjust cuts' to local government pensions.The strike, which could see picket lines outside Weston Town Hall, comes after a national ballot in which 80 per cent of workers backed industrial action.Workers are angry the Government wants to scrap the rule allowing them to retire aged 60 on a full pension if they have paid sufficient contributions.
