A cut in town council funding has prompted Burnham and Highbridge councillors to propose a 4.6 per cent increase in council tax.

Tax payers in Band D homes will be affected by the rise, which will add up to £3.92 a year.

One of the reasons cited for the rise is Government cuts which means it will receive £20,000 less funding from Sedgemoor District Council.
