North Somerset Council has decided to fight a plan to build 79 homes on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare after the developer lodged an appeal.
The proposals, which could see the homes built off Bleadon Hill, were submitted to the council by planning agent Clifton Emery Design last year.
However, the company lodged the appeal after the council took too decide on the proposal, meaning the application will now be decided by a planning inspector later this year.
The council’s planning committee voted to fight this appeal at its most recent meeting on March 9.
Cllr Terry Porter said: “It would change the character of this area completely.
“There are no facilities in Bleadon, no public transport and no shops within a mile. There is no access to this site other than by car. You cannot cycle because of the terrain and it is a huge walk to anywhere.”
