NEW safety measures will have to be implemented in Kewstoke if fees are not introduced on the toll road, it has been claimed.Councillor Ian Porter says he is becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of villagers. He said: "My concern is the safety of the residents of Kewstoke."There is a school and little street lighting or pavements in the village, which can be dangerous. "So I want to see traffic calming measures in Kewstoke should the toll not be reintroduced."Members of the council's strategic planning and economic development policy and scrutiny panel discussed earlier this month whether drivers should have to pay to travel along the road.Among other things the panel recommended to the authority's executive member for strategic planning and economic development, Councillor John Crockford-Hawley, that investigations should take place into what safety measures could be introduced through Kewstoke.Cllr Crockford-Hawley will now go away and decide what to do about the toll road. No date has been set for a decision as he could decide to take the matter to a full council meeting.
