Councillors concerns laid to rest following visit to village quarry

Councillors who had expressed concerns about the environment impact of a Cheddar quarry have been ‘reassured’ during a visit.
Members of Cheddar Parish Council visited Batts Combe Quarry to learn more about one of the village’s larger businesses.
The quarry – owned by Hanson – supplies limestone and construction material across Somerset, including Hinkley Point C.
Councillors were able to ask important questions about noise pollution, dust levels and vehicle movements – which have been hot topics at parish council meetings for some time.
Acting council clerk, Hazel Brinton, said: “They were reassured by the commitment the company has to working with the community.”
