DISMALAND in Weston-super-Mare has been open to the public for just three days – but one couple have already chosen it as their wedding venue.

Simon Christie-Irwin and Rachelle Summerson-Wright got married in Newcastle last week, but cancelled a three-week honeymoon to Cuba, to recreate their wedding day at Banksy’s Dismaland, yesterday (Sunday).

Instead of sunning herself in Cuba Christie put on her wedding dress for a second time to pose in front of Banksy’s decaying castle, which has been set up in the Tropicana.

The Wedding Fairy, George Watts, from Weston, met the couple, now Mr and Mrs Christie-Irwin, in a chance encounter at the bemusement park.

In a post on The Wedding Fairy Blog he said: “At first I thought Si and Rachelle Christie-Irwin were actors, employed to add a little sparkle to proceedings at Banksy’s fairytale castle, but as my brother-in-law got chatting, suddenly all became clear – this was the real deal. Dismaland’s first official wedding couple had landed at the bemusement park.”

The Mercury has also put together a gallery of more than 50 pictures from inside Banksy’s latest exhibition for those who can not make it to the show itself.
