A COUPLE celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with many of their bridesmaids and page boys and even the best man from 60 years ago.

Elizabeth and Cecil Eyre, both aged 83, met at Christmas in 1949 and married the following December.

They went on to have two sons and a daughter and now have seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The couple, originally from Oxford, moved to Gloucestershire where they owned a transport café for 10 years.

They decided to live in Sand Bay in 1989 and in 1998 bought a holiday home in Spain and a mobile home in Kewstoke.

They celebrated their special day on the Grand Pier with family and friends and many of the wedding party from six decades ago.

They also had a blessing and are about to set off on a trip to Las Vegas and the Mexican Riviera.

Cecil said: “The secret to our long marriage is that we do everything together and never go our separate ways.

“We share everything and have no secrets and will love each other always.”
