The following cases were heard at North Somerset Courthouse from May 23 to June 6.

* Damien O’Brien, Locking Road, Weston (45). Assault: six-month prison sentence and ordered to pay £500 compensation.

* James Paul, Swiss Road, Weston (47). Drug-driving: disqualified from driving for 12 months, community order and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

* Phillip Owen, Sandford Road, Winscombe (61). Failure to give breathalyser sample: disqualified from driving for 29 months, community order and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

* Matthew Rickford, Brue Close, Weston (33). Theft: 16-week prison sentence and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.

* Robert Hooper, Stafford Road, Weston (38). Drink-driving: 12-week suspended prison sentence, disqualified from driving for 52 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge. Driving while disqualified: 12-week prison suspended sentence (concurrent). Driving without valid insurance: No separate penalty.

* Benjamin Marshall, Monkton Avenue, Weston (32). Threatening behaviour: fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* Shannon Baker, no fixed abode, (21). Three counts of theft: 19-day prison sentence and ordered to pay £303.98 compensation.

* Darren O’Brien, Brighton Road, Weston (25). Threatening behaviour: fined £186.

Samuel Cousins, Bridge Road, Weston (30). Speeding: three penalty points, fined £70 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge.

* Adam Mitchell, Hobbiton Road, Worle (40). Driving without valid insurance: six penalty points, fined £608 and ordered to pay £100 costs and £60 victim surcharge.

* Raymond Hislop, no fixed abode (52). Assault by beating: 10-week suspended prison sentence, retraining order and ordered to pay £150 compensation and £115 victim surcharge.

* Joseph Barrett, Barley Cross, Weston (28). Failure to give breathalyser sample: disqualified from driving for 36 months, community order and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge. Two counts of assaulting a police officer: community order and ordered to pay £200 compensation. Possession of bladed article in public: community order. Failing to stop when requested: no separate penalty.

* Helen Jennings, Charlton Road, Weston (57). Drink-driving: disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £60 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* Ali Karimi, Richmond Street, Weston (24). Driving without valid insurance: disqualified from driving for six months, fined £220 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* John King, Montpelier, Weston (53). Speeding: three penalty points, fined £117 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
