A JAILED drug dealer from Milton must pay almost £60,000 back or face further time behind bars.
David Bellamy is currently serving a three-year prison sentence for dealing cocaine, and could be handed an extra 19 months in jail if he cannot stump up the extra money.
The 55-year-old was handed the confiscation order for £57,394 by a judge at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.
Bellamy, previously of Milton Brow, was originally sentenced at the court in August last year, having pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and supplying cocaine.
But after a judge agreed that he had benefited from his criminal conduct, he must pay the money within the next six months or face an extra spell inside prison.
He will still have to pay the money even if he misses the deadline.
Dr Kirstie Cogram from Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s financial investigation unit said: “I hope this result reassures local residents that crime does not pay.
“One in seven people know someone living off the proceeds of crime. You could have the key piece of the jigsaw so please report any suspicions by calling our new non-emergency number on 101.”
