A TAKEAWAY employee stole £250 in cash from a till after relapsing into a cocaine habit.

Scott Doyle, of Ashcombe Road, admitted taking the money from Mitey Bite, when he appeared at North Somerset Courthouse on Friday.

The 35-year-old was employed on a temporary basis by the Weston food outlet and when a colleague fell ill, he was asked to lock up the premises.

However CCTV images showed him take £150 from the till, walk towards the exit, before going back to take the £100 float too.

Jane Cooper, prosecuting, said Doyle was a cocaine user and had relapsed before he stole the cash on December 1. The court was also told the incident happened shortly after his son had died suddenly.

Doyle was granted unconditional bail by magistrates and will appear at Bristol Crown Court on January 27.
