A 51-YEAR-OLD man has denied assaulting a paramedic in Weston-super-Mare town centre.

Alexander Smith, of North Street in Bedminster, Bristol, is alleged to have attacked paramedic Sam Caunter in Alexandra Parade at about 7pm on March 30.

He appeared at North Somerset Courthouse yesterday (Tuesday) to face one count of assault by beating, using threatening words to cause fear of violence and damaging property. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

His trial, which will be held at the same court, will take place on August 12.
