A WESTON nightspot has settled its differences with music licensing authorities - and its ban on playing recorded tunes has been lifted.

VII in Beach Road was ordered to by the High Court to stop playing copyrighted music after falling behind with payments to Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL), which collects royalties on behalf of 50,000 performers.

However, since the court ruling on January 20, PPL has reached an agreement with VII owners Vassos and Nicholas Sangolis and the bar’s music has resumed.

PPL spokesman Jonathan Morrish said: “Following the hearing in the High Court, PPL is now in successful dialogue with Mr Sangolis and both parties are happy with the arrangements in place.

“Mr Sangolis is currently able to play music in his establishment.”
