A MAN from Worle this week went on trial accused of the murder of a woman in London 13 years ago.
James Citro, of Abbots Close, is appearing at the Old Bailey in London this week after denying the murder of Lithuanian hotel chambermaid Nijole Siskeviciene.
The 44-year-old’s body was found strangled by garages close to her home in Wembley, northwest London on October 20, 1998.
The divorcee, who had a teenage son, had only moved to the UK the previous year.
Her son Vytautis Siskevicius has spent the past decade campaigning for justice for his mother.
54-year-old Citro was born James Kennedy in Nenagh, Country Tipperary in Ireland.
He was arrested and charged over the divorcee’s death in January this year as part of a cold case review.
A jury was sworn in on Monday, with the trial expected to last two weeks.
