A YATTON businesswoman's idea of introducing an arts and crafts area to her café has been so successful it has led to her opening a separate shop.

Wendy Montgomery, aged 36, who has lived in the town all her life, opened Wendy's Café, in the High Street, almost two years ago.

She set up a card-making table in a bid to boost trade and was soon swamped with people wanting to buy the materials.

So when another café, on the first floor of the precinct, became available recently she bought it and transformed it into Wendy's Craft and Gift Shop.

The mother-of-one said: "I sell inexpensive gifts, and supplies for making jewellery and scrapbooks.

"The response so far has been very positive.

"I'm hoping people will visit from other villages and it will take off after Christmas.

"I have some good staff who are looking after the café and I'm in the shop every day from 10am-5pm.
