Three people were taken to hospital last night (Thursday) after a crash on the edge of Weston-super-Mare.

Paramedics and firefighters were dispatched to Bridgwater Road in Lympsham after people were left trapped in the wreckage.

The incident happened at about 6.20pm.

A Devon and Somerset Fire Service spokesman: “One fire appliance from Weston Super Mare and one from Burnham-on-Sea were sent to a report of a road traffic collision at the above location.

“On arrival crews confirmed that the incident involved two vehicles and that three persons were trapped.

“Working with paramedics, fire crews released three persons using various heavy rescue cutting equipment.

“The casualties were then taken to hospital via ambulance.”
