A SERIOUS accident involving a car and a motorcyclist has closed a stretch of New Bristol Road in Weston.

The accident happened at around 3.20pm when the car, a silver Vauxhall Astra, collided with the motorcyclist, who is thought to be in her 30s.

The motorcyclist sustained injuries to her pelvis and arm, and a minor injury to her head after being thrown from her bike during the collision, while the driver of the car, who is thought to be in her 40s, is being treated for shock.

A section of the road between the junction for Worle High Street and the Lidl supermarket has been closed while police and ambulance crews attend the scene.
