HEAT from burning bodies could be recycled to warm water and radiators at Weston Crematorium. The cash saving idea is being considered by North Somerset Council after a suggestion from a scrutiny panel. One member, Robert Coleman, said: "As bodies are cremated there are waste fumes and heat which just go up the flu and are wasted."Why not exchange that heat to create hot water and central heating for the establishment? "That would be quite a bit of money saved every year."An explosion damaged cremators at the Ebdon Road site last summer. Although it is repaired and working the council wants to improve the facility. The scrutiny panel's suggestion is being looked at by council officers to see if it is cost effective. Councillors received a crematorium progress report during a full council meeting on Tuesday (July 25).
