FIRE crews and police were called to Princess Royal Square tonight (Sat) outside the Grand Pier after a fire broke out.

Two fire engines tackled a blaze at Mitey Bite chip shop in Regent Street, off the square.

The fire is thought to have been caused by overheated chip fat catching light.

Crews entered the property at around 9.30pm and used foam to fight the blaze.

No one was rescued or thought to be hurt.
