Crews called to tackle house fire in Weston-super-Mare

A 'horrific' and 'huge' fire broke out in Ashcombe Road, Weston-super-Mare, this afternoon (Wednesday).

Four fire engines were on scene with support from the police and rapid response cars to deal with the fire which broke out in a ground floor flat.

A neighbour told the Mercury: “There was a loud bang.

“There were huge flames, it was horrific. I have never seen anything like it.”

The blaze is now under control but the road remains closed while fire services are on the scene.
