Fire crews rescued a woman who had become trapped in her car in a ditch.

Fire crews were called out to rescue a passenger who was trapped in a car in a ditch last night (Monday).

Two fire appliances from Burnham-on-Sea attended after a call from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

The car had left the carriageway in Wick Road, Lympsham, at 11.45pm and come to rest in a ditch, trapping the passenger inside the vehicle.

Crews from Devon Fire and Rescue Service worked with paramedics to stabilise the vehicle before removing the female passenger.

The woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.
