A MAN has appeared before magistrates this morning (Mon) accused of making explosive devices which caused people to be evacuated on Friday.
Phillip Leonard, aged 36, was charged with four counts of making explosives for an unlawful purpose but did not indicate a plea at Taunton Deane Magistrates Court.
The court was told Leonard, of Beatty Way, Burnham, had been sleeping on the sofa of the property where his ex-partner and her two children lived, after their relationship broke down.
He was denied bail and will remain in custody until a hearing at Taunton Crown Court next month.
