BUTCHERS usually have lots of meat – but one got in trouble this week for helping himself to a little bit too much.
Lee Butcher, of Meadow Street, Weston, appeared before magistrates at North Somerset Courthouse charged with stealing a joint of beef worth 16.37 from Tesco in Station Road.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to a single count of theft, and was sentenced to six weeks in prison.
Magistrates told him custody was the only option because he has a previous history of offending, and he has failed to respond to previous community penalties.
Butcher, who also admitted breaching a conditional discharge, also asked for two other similar offences to be taken into consideration.
