A NORTH Somerset councillor has been fined hundreds of pounds for possessing ammunition without a certificate.
Cllr Tim Marter, who is a Conservative member of the council, pleaded guilty at Swindon Crown Court on June 5 and was sentenced today (Fri).
The court heard earlier in June how the 48-year-old, whose council ward covers Banwell and Winscombe, was given the ammunition by a family member and intended to dispose of it through an official firearms dealer.
The ammunition was seized by police in December last year and today he was fined £300, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £30.
