A burglar who urinated in the hallway of North Somerset Magistrates Court in St Georges has been sentenced to six months in prison for burglary.Bruce Lawton, aged 42, broke into a neighbour's house in August with two other men and stole a number of Star Wars and Doctor Who memorabilia from the victim's £40,000 collection.Witnesses also reported seeing one of the party defecating in the man's garden before making off with the goods.Mr Lawton, of Corner Court, Clevedon, was also charged with using threatening and abusive words or behaviour at North Somerset Magistrates Court before an earlier hearing.Reading a witness report in court, Kevin Blackmore, prosecuting, said: "The male (Lawton) refused to extinguish his cigarette and was being verbally abusive to staff. He was escorted from the building but allowed back in later when he continued to be abusive and urinated in the entrance to court one."David Bird, defending, said Lawton had stayed out of trouble for 21 years but had recently become depressed and turned to drink after the breakdown of his marriage. Mr Lawton was sentenced to six months in prison for burglary but was given no separate penalty for his behaviour in court.
