CRIME prevention advice is being given to elderly people and staff in care homes after a spate of thefts.
Just before Christmas, thieves target a number of homes in the Yeovil area.
Now police in Weston are giving out advice and visiting homes in the town, to ensure a similar crime wave does not happen in North Somerset.
Town centre sergeant Pete Land said: "The main purpose of the visits is to check security and offer advise where we can.
"Older people are more vulnerable and unfortunately are sometimes easily duped.
"If staff are distracted a criminal might easily get in.
"Our team has been focusing on Weston town centre and the Ashcombe area but I am sure other beat teams will be doing similar checks.
