A LOCKING man was caught with cannabis after police officers smelt it from his car, North Somerset Courthouse has been told.

Rhys Meaney, of Varsity Way, was arrested in the early hours of September 8 and found to have 40 of cannabis.

Prosecutor Kelly Marshall said the estimated 4g amount was in keeping with someone using cannabis for personal use and said Meaney had admitted to having the drugs immediately.

It was the second time this year he had been caught by police after he was cautioned in June.

Meaney, aged 25, was fined a total of 250 including costs after pleading guilty to possessing the class B drug.
