A DRINK-DRIVER has been put out of work on his birthday after magistrates stripped him of his driving licence on Monday.

Robert Orme, aged 23, said the ban will force him to give up his job with the removal business he set up 18 months ago, after he was pulled over by police and found to be almost twice over the drink-drive limit.

Orme, of Avon Close, Weston, admitted under arrest to driving his Audi A4 in Winterstoke Road on June 20, while under the influence of alcohol despite knowing he was close to the limit, North Somerset Courthouse was told.

The 23-year-old apologised for his actions and said the 18-month ban would put him out of work.

Orme, who only passed his driving test in June 2010, was also ordered to pay 260, including a 160 fine.
