A man has been charged with possessing indecent images of children and animals after an incident at Weston Air Festival led to the alleged discovery of hundreds of abusive photos and videos, a court heard.

Brian Reece, aged 46, was arrested after a member of the public told police he had been taking inappropriate photos of a child during the festival on June 20 last year. Prosecutors claim a subsequent police search of Reece’s home saw them find more than 250 images and videos of child abuse on his computer and other abusive images involving animals.

Reece, of Gloucester Terrace in London, is charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of possessing an extreme image of a child and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images depicting sex with an animal.

He appeared before magistrates at North Somerset Courthouse on Monday and did not enter a plea to any of the charges. He was bailed until April 11, when he will appear at Bristol Crown Court.
