THE son of a Weston bar owner has appeared in court charged with assaulting a man outside his father’s business.
Chris Coumis appeared at North Somerset Courthouse on Tuesday charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Mark Pitcher outside Raddys Bar on October 15.
Kevin Blackmore, prosecuting, told the court that the attack was alleged to have happened outside the bar, which is owned by Mr Coumis’ father Paul.
Mr Pitcher was taken to hospital after the incident, and was in an induced coma for nine days, while a drain was put in his skull to counter swelling on his brain.
Coumis, of Worlebury Park Road, has not yet entered a plea to the charge, and was released on unconditional bail. He will reappear at the courthouse on March 6 before being committed to Bristol Crown Court.
