ANGRY customers could be left out of pocket after a furniture company went into administration. The Furniture Warehouse has been closed for the past two weeks, with a notice posted outside saying a stock take is under way. Wendy Perkins, of Tweentown, Cheddar, bought six chairs and a dining table from the store in Marchfields Way, Weston, at a cost of £545.The 57-year-old and her husband Anthony, aged 46, placed the order in March and were told to expect delivery within six weeks. But, on June 25, she found doors at the store were locked when she went to see what had become of her goods. Wendy, who is a matron at a nursing home in Draycott, said: "As far as I am concerned it's fraud. "We had been saving up for a year and were looking forward to replacing our old table and chairs, which we've had for more than 20 years."Sonia Collins, aged 34, of Lark Road, Worle, and her partner, 42-year-old Paul Barrett, also ordered a dining room table and six chairs. She said: "We have been trying to contact the company but nobody answers."Ms Collins, who is five months pregnant, said: "We have been decorating our house for ages now. This is the last thing I want to deal with."A statement has appeared on the website of an insolvency company which says: "F A Simms & Partners has been appointed as joint administrators of Furniture Warehouse, which was placed into administration on July 2. "The administrators are currently reviewing the business with a view to fulfilling customers' orders where possible. A decision will be taken shortly in this regard."All affected customers will be contacted directly and the administrators expect to be able to advise them on the position regarding their orders during the course of the next two weeks."Anyone who has outstanding orders with Furniture Warehouse should call the administrators on 01455 555444.
