BUSINESSES are being offered support to cut their travel costs as part of European mobility week.
Advisers from Somerset County Council are available to help businesses analyse their transport patterns. The council will look for ways to make travel more efficient, cut costs, improve efficiency and reduce pollution.
Councillor David Hall, cabinet member for strategic planning and economic development said: “Economic growth is vital for Somerset, and to support growth we need to make efficient use of our transport network.”
Robert Zelazik, a partner at A C Mole, one of the businesses involved in the scheme said: “Working internally and with neighbouring businesses, we have been able to raise awareness of travel issues, resulting in everyone making more of an effort to reduce unnecessary car travel whenever possible.
“Going green isn’t just good for the environment; it can be very tax efficient too.”
All employees in Somerset can fill in an online travel poll on the moving forward website on today (Thurs) to share their experiences of travel.
