STARS such as Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome have helped cycling go from strength to strength in the past 18 months but bikes from a bygone era will take centre stage this month.

Weston Museum will showcase a 200-year cycling history including penny farthings, tricycles and tandem from September 21.

The Burlington Street attraction is bringing together hundreds of items for the exhibition and will also look at Somerset cycling clubs and clothing.

Malcolm Nicholson, Weston Town Council clerk, said: “As part of historic Somerset, the town council is delighted to be working with the experts from Somerset County Council heritage service on this exhibition, which will be of great interest to the ever-growing community of cyclists.”
