A KEEN cyclist is looking forward to taking on a 75-mile ride for Weston Hospicecare.

Mark Bradshaw of Bridge Road in Weston is taking part in the Strawberry Jam for the hospice on August 14.

Mark, who works for Avon and Somerset police in Portishead, is tackling the longest distance in the challenge which also has 10-mile, 25-mile and 50-mile routes.

He said: “I moved to Weston in 1998 after living in Germany as a soldier in the army.

“When I first came to the area I saw the Mercury Mendip Challenge advertised by the hospice and decided to take part to help a local charity to raise much-needed funds.

“When I saw the Strawberry Jam event advertised last year I had to take part, I cycle to work each day from my home in Weston to Portishead and try to get some longer rides in at the weekend too.

“Since moving to Weston nearly 14 years ago it seems that everyone I meet has been touched by the hospice at some point in their lives through family or friends and this makes me even more determined to help out when I can.”
