A MAGICIAN from Axbridge has been named as the best in the area.

Damian Surr, aged 40, has been performing magic professionally since the age of just 19.

This year, he joined the Bath Circle of Magicians after two members invited him to become part of the exclusive club.

He performed alongside seven others in one of the group’s competitions and went away as the winner.

Damian, who goes by the name Gingermagic, said: “I’m delighted. Although I’ve lived in Somerset for about 10 years now, I only joined the Bath Circle a few months ago.

“I hadn’t even been to one of its competition nights before, let alone entered one. I decided to go for it and am so glad that I did.”

The judges, based their decision on the skills performed, presentation and entertainment value.

Damian’s first experience of magic came when he was just six years old when his father showed him his first trick.
