A SOMERSET daredevil conquered her fear of heights to raise money for an animal rescue centre.

Sherrie Steane, aged 22, of Highbridge, leapt 15,000ft from a plane with her boyfriend Simon Butson.

She only agreed to join him if she could raise money for Secret World animal rescue centre near Highbridge.

In total, the Somerset Skills and Learning administrator raised £240 for the charity and is now planning to do it again next year. Sherrie said: “I’m a bit scared of heights and a bit scared of flying but Simon had always wanted to have a go at skydiving.

“In the aircraft I was quite nervous but my instructor was great. We jumped in tandem and were the last to leave the plane for about a minute of freefall and then about six minutes with the parachute.
